I hope this helps you, but I don't mind if you contact me again. This has the facility to take downloaded designs via Compact Flash, and to read the 9000 cards if you have the box as I mentioned above. I have a Janome 11000 (which does everything except make the tea!), but I also have a 10000 which I may be selling. SEW format, but you cannot download designs from the internet as there is no way of transferring them to the machine. However, the 9000 is a great sewing machine. I still have some 9000 cards which I may be putting on eBay later on. I have windows 10, i download embroidery designs, you have to pick a format which is jef, i download them into an Embroidery file then a file fir the company I brought them from. There are a lot of design cards for the 9000, easily obtainable at reasonable prices on eBay (look under Janome), and it will also stitch designs on cards for the 8000. ScanSoft, Peronalizer 2000, Customizer 2000 and Digitizer 2000 use the.SEW format. Neither can you use the reader/writer box with the 9000, this is used on the 10000 to enable you to use the designs on the 9000 design cards. You can then scan in only your own designs, such as a drawing, and you also need Janome Customiser 2000 software for your computer to fill in the stitches and then write the design to the blank card. You cannot send designs to a card unless you have the Scan'n'Sew 2, which is Janome's own scanner, and which uses a 'blank' card. The 9000 can only use Janome's own cards with designs on them. I have recently sold mine on eBay, after having used it for many years. I've just read your question re the Janome 9000.
